Shadowmakers

History:
A nocturnal species which is known by few people other than Alchemists and Inquisitors. Their nocturn and tribal life, wild look and the fact they turn into human-like creatures during the day, made everyone think they were true demons. Therefore, as soon as the Inquisiton began, they were chased away, except for some of them, who were able to buy their ascense in society with their human disguises; thus, these fortunate Shadowmakers got a kingdom, and created a nobility family, nameing their kingdom after the place they came from, Darklands.
No one knows what became of the tribal ones, but it's said that they travelled along with sailors towards Cambean islands where now they live happily. But that's only what people say...
Facts about them:
-Their average size is the same as human's, and so is their weight and general constitution. That made the settlers who found them think they were humans wearing heavy fur coats (idea scrapped when they saw their horns and tail).
-Their horns vary in size and shape from one Shadowmaker to another. Males' horns are much bigger than females', because in ancient times they were used for ritual battles.
-There's an essential difference between tribal and noble Shadowmakers, other than some physic variations. The former are pretty social and hospitable, while the latter, due to humankind's former discrimination and hunt towards them, hate each other, and think about their "demon self" as a curse which must not be seen by any other creature.

Lerkanonix

History:
These creatures are so rare and bizarre that it'd be difficult to determine if they are alive beings or somekind of undead mass due to some of their physic properties. Following some old Shadowmaker legends, they were born from mysterious shadows as bloodthirsty monsters, but with the help of the wisest sorcerers of each tribe, they were tamed, locking their powers into bracelets, and used as slaves, warriors and vehicles since then, thanks to an amazing ability they have... shapeshifting. Shadowmakers controlled this ability by assigning a key to each Lerkanonix's bracelet, and then giving this key to each new born, and then these children would give it to their children, and so on... Thus, a Lerkanonix may live thousands of years with a single clan as a slave, with the only objective of getting its Key of Life back so it becomes free and powerful again.
Facts about them:
-Their average size is unknown, since their original form is a mystery, but the most used is the appearence of a reptil with certain mammal features, which is about the size of a hand.
-It doesn't matter what form they change to, their strength and weight is the same, and the same happens to their facial features (jaw and eyes mostly) and colour, reason why their owners usually choose reptils rather than mammals. With an extra effort, they're actually capable to hide themselves rather convincingly.
-Despite Shadowmakers' tries, it seems that Lerkanonix aren't able to reproduce. This is a big obstacle when trying to keep the tradition of giving one to each new born.
-Their personality is usually mild, but sarcastic at the same time. This is used for getting their owner's trust and thus having more chances of stealing their key somehow.

Verlebens
History:
There's no text about them in any book. It seems they're unexistent to the world, so there's no real knoweledge about them, apart some really sporadic sighting, in which they were described as monsters with a certain resemblance to pirates, with old people's hair colour, but with weird coloured strands of hair, demonic eyes, angel wings and a lion tail. That's the description they were given (apart of the general "we are afraid it is a demon" given by the Inquisition) and it seems there are decades between each entry about them. Some of the wisest sages consider they might live under the surface of the Earth, what would explain why they haven't been seen in so long. The only known residence of one of them is a little town of Ekera, famous and feared for being plenty of bounty-hunters, and several demonic creatures.
Facts about them:
-The only common thing all the people who saw one of them say, apart from the characteristics above, is that all them have different facial and body markings, which are always the same colour as their wings, eyes and different hair strands.

Pirates

History:
Not the kind of pirates you'd be expecting. It's said that they're descendents of elves and demons. They live in the Cambean seas. Anyhow, Inquisition hunts them down, but in respect for elves (their resemblance to them, mostly), instead of being killed, they're sent to the navy, where they are dealt with practically as badly as in prison. If a Pirate's done an outstanding work there, they're allowed to go back home, but under the threat of being made to come back at any given time.
Facts about them:
-They're normally bigger than humans, and weigh much more too.
-They've got a wide range of hair colours, but most common are dark blue and ginger.
-Elves accept them as distant relatives, but their relations aren't very good.
-They, unlike elves, can move their ears according to their expressions, and they do have facial hair.
